Global Summit to Build a Prototype Ecopolis
(Arcology, Ecocity, Fractal City, Biospheric Metropolis)
from the ground up.

 

Sensitive members of the human species feel the need to come together to form a more perfect union in order to divert planetary catastrophe. Conference upon conference has taken place, but still an integrated whole systems approach has not been applied to ecocity design. Some nation-states such as China and the United Arab Emirates are moving ahead with building zero-carbon and non-polluting cities. It's time for the United States to put on its innovative cap and join the human race to build a sustainable ecological metropolis.

The concept of true “ecopolis” requires a new archetype in architecture that serves as a container for conscious evolution. Guided by the synergy of human and artificial intelligence, the ecopolis must provide a new pattern of pedestrian friendly, mass transit integrated urban development that brings greater complexity, freedom and order than was possible in 20 th Century car and oil dependent urban sprawl. It is a whole-systems design, meaning that resources are sufficient, but limited, and must be distributed equitably; it relies on organic, plant-based agriculture, and it allows for natural diversity to take shape. Ecopolis uses cradle-to-cradle, toxic-free industries and is founded on solar energy economics.

Because of the recycling nature of ecopolis, the architecture is designed for maximum longevity of structure. It biomimics the Earth's ecosystems to create a container where the balance of nature is achieved, and where a clean, breathable atmosphere can be sustained. Ecocities designed to create a healthy planetary environment is a principle characteristic of evolutionary architecture.

There are two foundational principles of the summit. First, as a resource-based project, the plan re-organizes and re-channels wasteful military spending and “man” power into a “green army” to build ecopolis. Second, the cocreative plan works to uplift all of humanity to a higher level of existence, beyond the current rich/poor duality stasis.

A successful ecopolis model can serve as a prototype for the developing world because the current form of development is causing extinction to both plants and animals world-wide. The framework of this summit is to bring visionary philosophers, scientists, engineers, artists, sociologists, economists, peacemakers, and policy designers together to brainstorm on how to build the physical and social architecture that creates a green, high-tech lifestyle.

The quantum leap humanity needs to make is from one civilization archetype into another. Ecopolis is such a leap.
